I don’t get many pimples these days, but when I do it’s a doozy; a small volcano that you can feel brewing long before you can see it. One of the most inconvenient times that this happened to me was a day or so before I went out on my first date with Grant. I could feel the tingling and the swelling had started, by the following day (date night, arrrrhhh) I just knew there’d be a massive eruption breaking forth from my chin!
I needed something that would halt the pimple in its tracks and reduce the redness and swelling. After unsuccessfully trying to find a simple solution that sounded like it would actually work, I went down to our local pharmacy.
They always have very knowledgeable, helpful staff and I was in luck, the lady working that day was very sympathetic, she said there was a trick she knew of that worked … All I needed was a soluble aspirin tablet!
Aspirin helps to reduce the severity of an outbreak because it contains salicylic acid, beta hydroxy acid which helps to reduce inflammation and combat blackheads and whiteheads. It’s not recommended to use this treatment on a regular basis as there are concerns that salicylic acid can dry out your skin and cause irritation over time.
This trick is a quick fix – in case of emergencies.
Get one soluble aspirin and put it in a short glass or small bow then drizzle with Green Goddess Apple Cider Vinegar until a paste is made, give it a stir as you go.
Apply the paste to the offending pimple, it’s best to leave this over night for the best results.
If you have a red rash or an allergic reaction (like Portia did a couple of days ago to a product called Formula 10.0.6 which is supposed to help reduce inflammation not cause it – after reading the ingredients it’s no in the bin) take one soluble aspirin and make a thin paste with water, spread this over the inflamed area and leave over night.
