Borax is an ingredient found in traditional bath salts, this all natural mineral helps to cleanse your skin and gently detox the body. Being an alkaline mineral salt it also has the power to soften your bath water so that your skin is left moisturised.
When teamed up with Epsom Salts and essential oils these bath salts will also help to relieve inflammation and ease pain, making it beneficial in the treatment of sore muscles.
Borax is actually one of the many minerals in sea water, it is also a naturally occurring mineral found in rich soil. Produce grown in areas with a high borax content could have as much as 20mg of borax (apples is one example), this helps with diseases caused by high acidity like arthritis, psoriasis, diabetes, etc.
Epsom Salts & Borax Bath
1/4 cup Green Goddess Premium Borax
1/4 cup Green Goddess Premium Epsom Salts
Run your bath with the temperature you prefer, for the above quantities you need 3/4 full regular sized bath tub. Add the Borax and Epsom Salts to the bath and stir to dissolve, then add a few drops of essential oil, Lavender is a lovely relaxing oil, hop in and relax.
Place 1/2 cup of Epsom salts, 1 tablespoon of baking soda, and 1 tablespoon of Borax in a glass jar. Stir.
Add 15 drops of rose geranium essential oil, and 10 drops of ylang-ylang essential oil to the dry mixture. Stir again.
You can also add fresh flowers like lavender to the mixture. Crush up and stir through the salts for a pretty light lavender colour.
Turn the bath water on and begin filling up the tub with hot water.
Pour half of the mixture from the glass jar in to the bath water while it is still running. Save the other half for the next time you take a bath.
Soak in the tub for 20 to 30 minutes.
