With winter here, colds and flu are everywhere. Pearl has been busy studying for exams and has come down with a cold. My cure-all for colds is always Vitamin C. When I use it my cold never lasts longer than a few days as it really helps to bolster the immune system. The problem is finding a Vitamin C tablet which doesn’t contain sweeteners, flavours and colours. Those chewable ones are the worst. So when I was at the chemist the other day, I was delighted to find Lypo-Spheric Vitamin C. It comes in a paste form which you must squeeze into water before consuming to activate it. Then you drink it on an empty stomach and wait 15 minutes before eating. You get 1000mg of Vitamin C which apparently goes straight into your system rather than being digested and passed on as waste. Most ordinary forms of oral Vitamin C – tablets, capsules, powders, are not processed and absorbed efficiently by your body. As a result, much of this Vitamin C is never transferred into your bloodstream and even less of it makes it into your cells where it’s needed most. In fact, when you take 1,000mg or more of regular oral Vitamin C, more than half of it is digested and passed as waste by your body.
Liposomes are liquid-filled bubbles made from phospholipids. Researchers discovered that these spheres could be filled with nutrients and used to protect and deliver these agents into the body and even into specific cells of the body.
So next time you feel a cold coming on take a couple of these a day and help your body fight that bug!
