Wendyl Nissen interviewed Jamie Oliver recently for the The Australian Women’s Weekly. Wendyl reports – ‘we spent a lot of time talking about the sugar tax which he and his followers managed to get introduced to Britain. From 2018 a 20% tax will be applied to any drink over 8mg of sugar – and the producer pays, not the consumer. The money will be used to fund school initiatives to encourage kids into sport.
Since the interview, I’ve been working really hard to cut down my sugar intake, but it’s not that easy. Going cold turkey is just not an option for me, so I’ve been searching for good swaps for certain foods and I thought you might enjoy this article about 10 easy drink swaps to cut down sugar. With summer on its way, I particularly like the Margarita recipe which uses green tea, lime, tangerine juice, and tequila. The Pina Colada looks pretty amazing too. Enjoy, and see if you can take a bit of sugar out of your diet this week’.
