I read a great article at the weekend about a growing trend in Britain to let churchyards and cemeteries return to natural flowers and weeds to encourage insects and wildlife. Apparently more than 6000 British churchyards run their small plots of land as eco-systems without pesticides mowing the grass only once a year – ensuring that birds, reptiles and insects can thrive.
I think this is a wonderful initiative and something we should embrace here, so if any of you are on a church committee or similar why not suggest it? Or maybe your church already does this in which case I’d love to see some photos.
There’s a great article here with lots of links and information if you are interested.
