Craving homemade pizza but need a gluten-free option that doesn’t compromise on taste or texture?
This simple gluten-free pizza recipe has just the right amount of chewy and crispy (when cooked correctly), and there’s no complicated techniques required.
Whether you’re gluten-sensitive or just exploring new recipes, this dough is easy to make, requires minimal ingredients, and is perfect for your favourite toppings.
Homemade Gluten Free Pizza
2 tsp instant yeast
¾ cup lukewarm water
2 tbs caster sugar
3 cups gluten free flour (not self raising)
1 tsp salt
½ tsp baking powder
1 tbs olive oil
½ cup extra lukewarm water
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine the yeast, ¾ cup lukewarm water, and sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the gluten-free flour, salt, and baking powder. Create a well in the center.
Pour the activated yeast mixture, olive oil, and an additional ½ cup of water into the well. Stir with a spoon until a sticky dough forms – this texture is ideal.
Cover the bowl with a tea towel and allow the dough to rise for 1 hour.
Lightly grease your pizza trays with oil. Also, coat your hands with oil to make handling the dough easier.
Divide the dough into two portions. Using your oiled hands, press each portion onto the trays, spreading it into a thin, even base.
Add Toppings and Bake
Spread pizza sauce over the bases, add your favorite toppings, and bake in a fan-forced oven at 200°C for approximately 15 minutes, or until the base and toppings are cooked to your liking.
