candied cinnamon nuts with hemp hearts

These Candied Cinnamon Nuts from the Hemp Farm chef are totally mouthwatering and another great idea if you’re feeling inspired (and have the time) to make your own last minute Christmas gifts, although once you try them you might decide to whip up an extra batch to keep for yourself! Keep it simple and make with almonds or use a mix of your favourite nuts, then add hemp hearts for extra protein and nutrients.

Make your own Christmas, (or any time) treats this year!  These are super easy to whip up in less than 10 minutes using whatever nuts you have to hand.  Almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, cashews, etc.  A great addition to a tasting plate, or a simple snack served with drinks. Serve warm, or cold.

Candied Cinnamon Nuts

Ingredients:

2 cups Almonds (or mixed nuts)

1 cup Sugar

½ cup Water

¼ cup Hemp Farm Kiwi Hulled Hemp Hearts (add up to a half a cup if you wish)

1 tbsp Ground cinnamon

2 tsp Vanilla essence

Directions:

Combine the water, sugar, cinnamon, (and vanilla if desired), in a saucepan over MEDIUM heat.

Bring to a gentle boil.

Add the nuts and hemp hearts.

Cook and stir the mixture until the liquid evaporates and leaves a syrup-like coating on the almonds.

Pour the almonds onto a baking sheet lined with waxed paper.

Separate almonds using forks.

Allow to cool about 15 minutes.
