BirdCare Aotearoa in conjunction with Eco-Fest is holding a workshop for anyone who would like to know how to help sick, injured or orphaned wild birds.

Just recently I had a lovely wee tauhou (wax eye) that we looked after for three days until I found a wonderful bird lady right here in Hobsonville who took him in and made sure he became a happy healthy fledgling. That’s him in the photo!

If you’d like to learn what to do and how to help our wild birds and you are in Auckland then this workshop is for you.

From BirdCare Aotearoa …

Wild birds need specialised care from dedicated rehabilitators or vets. Each year, 6000 bird heroes bring their rescues to BirdCare Aotearoa – NZ’s largest, Dept of Conservation-permitted wild bird hospital. Wild birds need specialised care from dedicated rehabilitators or vets.

Many species have specific needs, and the conditions of the rescue can determine their recovery journey.

Join this workshop, to learn the best practises to safely rescue wild birds in need. The workshop will include a tour of our hospital facilities, and end with light refreshments- including home-grown kawakawa tea.

Connect with fellow bird lovers, and learn how to be the best bird hero. Together, let‘s give our feathered friends the best chance to return to the wild!

This is a whānau-friendly event, and tamariki-heroes will receive a complementary admission to our Kōtare Kids Club.

All registrations will support the life-saving work of our charity.

Cost: $30
