Have you heard of soaking drops? Soaking drops are added to warm water and help to hydrate, gently cleanse the skin, as well as increasing its ability to absorb the beneficial ingredients (hopefully you are using a natural plant-based product) in your favourite moisturiser or facial serum.
Soaking your face is an invaluable tool if you want to achieve a soft, glowing, radiant complexion. Wetting your face several times with a simple solution of essential oils and warm water morning and night helps to lock in moisture. All you need is a few drops of essential oil, warm water, a natural fibre cloth (muslin is good) and a few minutes; it can be a lovely relaxing ritual.
Theres no need to cleanse your face in the morning as you would have done that before going to be the night before, instead fill a bowl or partly fill the sink with warm water, then add a few drops of oil and essential oil, to find out which essential oils best suit your skin type check out this article.
My favourite combination at the moment is a couple of drops of sweet almond (you can use hemp seed, jojoba, carrot seed or olive oil, 1 drop frankincense essential oil and 1 drop lavender essential oil.
Drop the oils into the warm water, then submerge your natural fibre cloth, squeeze out and press the warm cloth into your face for around 10-15 seconds, re-wet the cloth and repeat about three times. While you’re doing this take 15-20 deep breaths with each soak to further enhance your relaxation.
Your skin is now hydrated and ready to get the most out of your natural plant based moisturiser or facial serum, apply as soon as you have finished soaking, don’t let your skin dry out before application as you want to lock as much moisture in as possible.
