Toenail fungus is a very common problem that can be exacerbated by wearing nail polish and not giving your nails a break. Your nails may seem hard but they are actually quite permeable and they soak up substances that are applied to their surface.
The pigment in nail polish can be absorbed by the top few layers of nail, if worn constantly there is no time for your nails totally dry out making them more susceptible to bacteria.
Give your toes plenty breathing time free from polish and keep your feet as dry as possible. If you already have a toe fungus problem try using Wendyl’s Green Goddess Premium Borax and Premium Baking Soda.
Fungus needs an acidic environment in order to live, baking soda is highly alkaline and borax is a natural salt that is fungicidal and anti-bacterial. (For more information on borax click on this link)
When combined these to two minerals create a remedy that kills off toenail fungus.
To use mix equal parts of baking soda and borax with just enough water to make a paste, I used 1/2 a teaspoon of each. Next wet your toes and rub the paste onto and around the affected toenails. making sure you get the area that connects to the skin. Leave on for 15 min, then wipe off. Do this twice a day for as long as it takes – usually around two weeks.
If you have a severe case of toenail fungus go and see your Doctor. This remedy is a home remedy only – there are no guarantees. It worked on my Sons toe but the infection was slight and had not spread to other nails.
You can also try soaking infected toes in a solution of warm water and borax, I used 1 teaspoon to 1 cup (that was when I got tired of making the paste and the fungus was on the way out).
