I’m having problems with the login on your shopping page. I have logged in before but it won’t recognise me.

Most problems with the website and the shop should come right if you clear your cache on your browser which is Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, Firefox – whichever one you are using. Sometimes they hold onto information and make it hard for the site to get a clear message from you. So clear the cache and have another go. Where can I purchase the soda ash you mention in your recipe for laundry powder?

I made your laundry liquid detergent but it is very solid and hard to squeeze into the washing. Can I water it down?

Depending on what soap you use it can vary from being really liquid to solid as a rock. With Sunlight soap it is just gluggy. If it is too solid, heat it up again on the stove and add some more water.

Where can I find Prussian Blue to make your bluing powder?

You can buy Prussian Blue pigment from good art stores. Make sure you get the powdered pigment, not the paint.

Can you use your laundry liquid and laundry powder concentrate in a front loader?

Yes you can. They have no chemicals added to make them bubble, so are fine to use in a front loader. Just put the powder in with the clothes. Or mix it with COLD water (not warm or hot) and put in the dispenser.

Where do you get your essential oils from?

Lotus Oils which is a New Zealand company.  I find their products are reasonably priced and excellent quality.

Where can I buy caustic soda to make soap with?

You’ll find it at the hardware store as a drain cleaner. Just check that the label says 100% sodium hydroxide – which is what caustic soda is.

I used your bluing powder and it left blue blotches all over my sheets.

That will be because you didn’t wait until the bowl was full and agitating for the final rinse. Try timing a separate wash cycle to work out when the bowl will be full set the timer on your stove to tell you when to add the blueing.

Can you use the bluing powder in a front loader washing machine?

You should be able to put it in the fabric softener compartment and set it on rinse only. Check your machines instructions. 

Are your products safe for septic tanks?

Yes they are as they don’t contain chlorine, which can interfere with the natural bacteria of the tank.
