It’s been made very clear recently that the American political landscape is bizarre and confusing, but the same can’t be said about their food labels. Impressively, the nutritional information labelling on American food products has always been very uniform and clear in both information and design—and is even visible on the front of most packaging, too—something that would be great to have enforced here in New Zealand. Facts and design aside, though, it still takes some effort on our behalf in order to figure out what EXACTLY is in our food and here is a nice piece on sugar (the latest bad-guy) and the many names it takes when it appears on our food labels.
