We’ve been getting a few emails from people asking for the updated DIY recipe for our popular deodorants.
So that the deodorants hold their consistency during cold and warm months beeswax has been added to the original recipe. If you are after a vegan version you can substitute the beeswax for candelilla or soy wax but make sure you use certified 100% pure soy wax that is biodegradable, does not contain petroleum, and is from a renewable resource.
You can also leave the wax out if you are happy with a more viscous paste, if it becomes too soft give it a stir and pop it in the fridge for an hour or so.
DIY Natural Rub-on Deodorant
30g coconut oil
20g baking soda
25g tapioca starch
4g beeswax or plant based wax
10 drops essential oil of your choice
Add wax and oil to a double boiler and melt. Then add the tapioca starch and baking soda and stir well to combine.
Take off the heat and add the essential oils (or leave them out for an unscented version). Mix together until you have a smooth consistency and pour into your container and leave to cool.
