Did you know that oatmeal can be turned into colloidal oatmeal and used to help relieve Eczema, dry skin, sunburn, insect bites and some other minor skin irritations. To make colloidal oatmeal all you need to do is grind up organic oats into a very fine powder and add it to water, in this case bathwater, it will create a milky film that’s suspended in the water, when you get in the bath the film coats the skin moisturising and protecting it.

When your skin is itchy and irritated, your pH level is usually higher, colloidal oatmeal aids in bringing the pH level back to normal which helps to reduce the need to itch. For best results soak in the bath for around 15 minutes, you can do this several times a week if necessary.

You may feel like taking a hot bath, however, hot water can irritate the skin and remove moisture so make sure the water is warm, not hot. Be careful when hoping out of the bathtub, colloidal oatmeal is slippery stuff. Dry off by patting your skin, don’t rub since this can further irritate any sore areas. To grind up your oatmeal you can use a coffee grinder, mortar and pestle, a food processor or a blender.
