This popcorn is simply the best! There’s no butter, no gluten and hardly any sodium. It’s super easy to make on the stove top or in a popper. All you need is some popping corn and nooch – otherwise known as nutritional yeast.

Once you’ve tried popcorn this way you’ll never look back, it’s that good!

I’m not a fan of microwaved popcorn for many reasons, the main one being the packet contains perfluorinated compounds that when heated leach into the popcorn that you then eat. PFC’s are also not at all good for the environment. And neither is the bag you are left with.

Another reason is microwave popcorn usually contains palm oil, flavouring, and colouring. Making your own popcorn on the stove or in a popper is better for you and less expensive.

And making popcorn with nooch is simply the best.

Nooch Popcorn

Pop your corn with a popper, or you can use this stop top method …

Heat a tablespoon of oil in a pot over low heat, take off and add ⅔ cup of corn kernels and shake to coat them with oil. Return the pot to heat on medium, (too hot and they’ll burn) leave the lid cracked enough to let the steam escape but not the popcorn. Shake periodically. When there are 2–3 seconds between pops, remove from heat and let cool.

Place the popcorn into a bowl and drizzle with olive oil, you’ll want it lightly coated but not so much as it goes soggy. Start off with a tablespoon and toss though the popcorn, then add more if needed. Next sprinkle over some ground sea salt (to taste) then sprinkle with Nooch (nutritional yeast). Toss gently again and eat!
