Do you have an itchy, dry, flakey scalp?  You could be having a reaction to the chemicals in the shampoo that you use. In the next few weeks we will be launching a totally natural, plastic free shampoo bar that will help sort out any allergy issues you may be having. Until then we’ve got a natural shampoo recipe for you to try.

This recipe is one that Wendyl came up with a few years ago and it actually works quite well. It’s easy to make and has a few more ingredients than our key staple ingredient Green Goddess Premium Baking Soda. You’ll need to follow up with a good conditioner like this one from Holistic Hair.

DIY Natural Shampoo Paste

2 cups Green Goddess Premium Baking Soda

40ml Green Goddess Hemp & Rose Foaming Soap

20ml Aloe Vera Gel

8 drops Rose Geranium essential oil

8 drops Palmarosa Essential Oil

Whizz the Green Goddess Premium Baking Soda around in the food processor to get rid of any lumps. Meanwhile, mix the aloe vera, the Green Goddess Hemp & Rose Foaming Soap, and the essential oils together in a jug. While the processor is running slowly, pour the liquids in until you have a powder.

Keep in an airtight container and to use put some on your hand (I need about 1 tbsp) add a bit of water and mix to a paste, then put on your wet hair and wash as usual. Your hair will feel a little ropey while it is wet but will dry very soft.
