This Gut Renewal Elixir can be taken daily, especially when you have tummy problems. Try drinking it in the morning to aid with digestion, it can help de-bloat, relieve gastrointestinal pain, and can also help to relieve moderate IBS symptoms.
There is a variety of both beneficial and tasty ingredients in this recipe. It has a tangy, yet sweet refreshing flavour. Imagine getting all those benefits, in a tasty and cost-effective way.
Lost Herbs Gut Renewal Elixir
This recipe provides two servings of elixir. Feel free to double or triple and make a bigger batch.
1 Cup Pineapple Juiced
1 tsp Turmeric (fresh or ground)
½ tsp Black Pepper
1 tsp Ginger
½ tsp Cayenne
2 limes (lemons are a great substitute)
1 tbsp Peppermint leaves (fresh or dried)
2oz Apple Cider Vinegar
How To Make It
You can always add a little less or more of different ingredients to tweak the taste to your liking.
Add mixture into your mason jar with apple cider vinegar, lime, and pineapple. Shake well.
Start by gathering all of your ingredients.
Bring one cup of water to a light boil while you prep the other ingredients.
Cut up ginger and set aside.
If needed prep fresh mint and turmeric, cut into ¼’ pieces, and remove all stems.
Add ginger, mint, turmeric, black pepper, and cayenne into boiling water.
Reduce to a simmer for 5-10 minutes and continue to stir occasionally while simmering.
Go ahead and add pineapple juice, apple cider vinegar, and the juice of two limes to a mason jar. Shake well and refrigerate.
Once your boiled herb mixture has cooled, strain it through cheesecloth and mesh strainer to remove all the pieces. Use a spatula to press cheesecloth down firmly in a strainer to get any excess liquid.
How To Use
You can serve this elixir over ice as a drink, and you can always sweeten it up to curb that acidic taste or mix it into a smoothie! It tastes delicious on a salad, like a light vinaigrette. It is a versatile, fun recipe to make.
Store it in a jar sealed in your fridge and store it for up to three days. Share with friends or family. If you make a batch too big to finish in three days try freezing it, this will keep for 12-16 months.
If you are having severe symptoms please see your natural health practitioner or doctor.
