Is your sink taking a little longer than usual to drain? Is there a slightly odd odour and gurgling sound? You probably have a clogged drain that will need clearing to prevent build up and the possibility of burst pipes.
The first thing I always try is the plunger, that usually works 50% of the time, next is a more aggressive technique. Not wanting to use Drano from the supermarket as it’s incredibly toxic, I found this recipe in an old magazine. The method is fairly easy and best of all it works.
How To Unclog Your Drain Without Harsh Chemicals
1/2 cup Premium Double Strength White Vinegar
1/4 cup Premium Baking Soda
8 cups of boiling water
A plug
Here’s what to do
Pour the baking soda down the drain, you may need to use a funnel, make sure it’s as far down as possible.
Next pour half of the vinegar into the drain and cover with a plug while it fizzes, once it stops fizzing uncover and pour in the rest of the vinegar and again cover with the plug and leave for 20 minutes.
Boil the water during this time, when 20 minutes is up pour the boiling water slowly down the drain.
You should now have a clear drain, if not repeat the process.
