Way to go Healtheries! They’ve made some huge changes to the packaging for their lovely range of teas. All teas are now totally free from plastic, synthetic fibres, bleach and glue, even the plastic packaging from the outside of the box has been removed.
You may remember an article we posted a few years back about microplastics in tea bags, well, we were not the only ones weary about this. Other New Zealanders spoke up too, and Healtheries listened!
Here’s everything you need to know about the important, eco-conscious changes Healtheries have made to their tea range – did you know their teas are also formulated without gluten?

THEY HAVE REMOVED THE OUTER PLASTIC OVERWRAP AS PART OF THEIR EFFORT TO PROVIDE FULLY SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING.
I loved the gift box they sent out (pictured below) even the paper the information was written on has seeds in it so all you have to do is rip it up and pop it into the garden. The trowel has come in very handy and the chocolate was divine too!

WHY DOES YOUR TEABAG LOOK DIFFERENT?
Our teabags are now packed in a double chamber tea bag which makes it easier for the water to circulate optimally around the tea. This brings out the full flavour of the tea.
CAN I COMPOST MY TEABAGS?
We are currently applying for independent certification to give you added peace of mind that our teabags are 100% home compostable.
IS THE TEA TAG RECYCLABLE?
Our tea tag is plastic free and made from paper, however it cannot be recycled due to its size.
THE TEA BOXES LOOK SMALLER, HAVE YOU CHANGED THE PACK SIZE?
No, our 20’s and 40’s boxes are now more compact to make it more sustainable, so we have not changed the number of tea bags in our boxes. You are getting the same value in a smaller more sustainable box! Our 50’s Green teas (Green tea pure and Green tea Lemon) now come in a 40’s packsize and this product’s formulation has not changed.
WHAT DOES ‘FORMULATED WITHOUT GLUTEN’ MEAN? I AM A COELIAC; CAN I STILL HAVE YOUR TEAS?
Formulated without Gluten means that our teas do not contain ingredients that are derived from wheat, rye, barley or oats. However our products have not been tested for ‘no detectable gluten’.
