fireside scent

If you use an open fire, or have a fire pit in the back yard, you might like to try this little trick to give your room or the surrounding area (if outside) a wonderful smell.

There’s nothing quite like an open fire for a sense of warmth and coziness that I personally find deeply comforting. The crackling sound of burning wood is so soothing along with the shadows that are cast from the gentle glow.

Reminds me of growing up and having an open fire every night to heat our living space, great memories.

Try This Fireside Scent

Mix three tablespoons of dried rosemary with one teaspoon of sugar. Put the mixture onto a coal shovel and place it in the hot embers, or you can sprinkle it on little by little but the effect won’t last as long. The rosemary and sugar will heat up and produce a wonderful herby smell.

If you’d like it a little more spicy add a teaspoon of cinnamon and nutmeg.
