Eggless Tea Cake with Prunes

This eggless tea cake is very easy to make, it’s an old recipe that was from many years ago when eggs were rationed during war time. With eggs now being expensive and often out of stock, finding recipes that are egg free is definitely a bonus.

A slice of this moreish cake is perfect to enjoy with a cup of tea, or any time that you fancy something sweet. It does have a fair bit of treacle though, so try not to eat too much at once.

This recipe is one of Wendyl’s from our archives, it has an overabundance of sugar so beware.

**If anyone makes this successfully with less sugar I would love to know**
