This natural oil diffuser blend is a lovely fresh scent that will bring spring indoors. The last time I shared an oil diffuser blend was for winter; the carrier oil was sweet almond which works quite well but isn’t very long lasting.

I don’t usually suggest a synthetic option, however, you may prefer to use a low ratio dipropylene glycol water carrier that lasts longer and travels up the reeds more efficiently.

Although it’s not natural like sweet almond or jojoba oil, dipropylene glycol lasts longer; this colourless liquid has no scent and is low in toxicity. The recipe has both options so it’s up to you which you choose.

Also, keep in mind that a pure essential oil blend will not be as strong as the overpowering scent of a commercial reed diffuser that uses synthetically made fragrances. With this natural blend, you’ll need to flip the reeds every so often to refresh the scent, especially when using a carrier oil instead of dipropylene glycol.

DIY Spring Oil Diffuser Blend

¼ Cup Sweet Almond Oil or 1/4 Cup Dipropylene Glycol (avail from Lotus Oils)

3 ml Rosemary Essential Oil

3 ml Lemon Essential Oil

3 ml Lavender Essential Oil

Pour the rosemary, lemon and lavender oils into your diffuser and swirl really well to combine, add the reeds and let them soak for a couple of hours, then flip them over to promote the scent travelling along the channels.

A natural oil diffuser works best in a smaller room like a bathroom or office, if using in a larger room you will need a couple of diffusers to appreciate the scent.
