Our natural hand sanitiser uses antiviral essential oils and double strength 9.9% acetic white vinegar for it’s ability disinfect and kill germs in the same way that bleach, does without the harmful toxins.
This type of vinegar is not the same as what you put on a salad, DO NOT ingest 9.9% white vinegar. No matter what you read all white vinegars are not the same. This is a highly acidic cleaning vinegar that is tough on germs.
The most active of the oils in this recipe are Tea Tree and Eucalyptus, they are highly antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiviral. This spray can also be used on surfaces, it’ll make your stainless shine but be careful using it on stone surfaces.
I am unable to use commercial sanitisers as I am allergic to isopropyl alcohol and meths, both cause eczema and make me feel very itchy. I am also highly allergic to bleach so use 9.9% white vinegar instead. This sanitising spray gives me peace of mind when I would otherwise not be using one.
As always washing your hands for longer than 20minutes, and being sure to scrub under your nails at the same time, is the best way to kill Covid19.

DIY Natural Hand Sanitising Spray
1/2 cup Filtered Water
1/2 cup Green Goddess Double Strength White Vinegar (9.9% acetic acid)
18 drops Sweet Orange Essential Oil
10 drops Lavender Essential Oil
8 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil
12 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil
Pour water and vinegar into a spray bottle.
Blend essential oils in a glass jar. With an eyedropper add 14 drops of this base to the spray bottle.
Shake before each use, spray onto hands and rub to distribute, then leave to dry. The vinegar smell will dissipate quickly.
Spray onto surfaces, and leave to dry. I’ve found this also makes a good cleaner for stainless surfaces, spray on, wipe and polish.
Keep the base oil mix in a dark-coloured glass bottle in the cupboard and use to mix up more spray as you need it.

From the Insider …
Acetic acid, the main component in vinegar, helps break down dirt and chemically changes the make-up of germ cell structures. White distilled vinegar, the type found in grocery stores and typically used for cleaning, is about 4% to 7% acetic acid, while cider vinegar and wine vinegar are around 5% to 6% acetic acid.
Vinegar has been shown to have some disinfectant properties. For example, a 2010 study found 10% malt vinegar to be effective against the flu virus, and a 2014 study published in a journal of the American Society for Microbiology found a 10% solution can kill the bacteria that causes tuberculosis.
