Growing up I have fond memories of Nana Dorothy’s jug of freshly made lemonade on the bench with a cute crocheted jug cover (pictured), complete with little decorative beads around the edges, covering the jug to keep bugs at bay.
Love that my Mum kept Nana’s jug cover for all these years.
If you’re looking for a new craft project try your hand at a jug cover, there are two patterns attached to this blog – so handy to have at home or a beautiful and unique gift for a friend.
How delightful is the cover with the little jug on top! Enjoy this little story from Wendyl and the patterns.
“When we have friends stay with us up north we always put a jug of milk in the fridge of our cottage along with tea and coffee and breakfast things. Last time Paul wondered what had ever happened to those milk jug covers which are crocheted with little beads to hold it on top of the jug. So I went on Trade Me and found two lovely little ones – one for the milk jug and one for the sugar bowl.
Since then, I’ve found the patterns below online which I thought those of you who crochet might like to make. I don’t crochet but it’s on my list of things to learn one day.”
