cinnamon tooth powder

Toothpastes can be full of really nasty chemicals such as triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate, parabens and preservatives. This cinnamon tooth powder is super easy to make and it leaves your mouth feeling fresh and clean.

Cinnamon tooth powder can potentially provide several benefits for your teeth and oral health as cinnamon is a natural antibacterial. Cinnamon helps to reduce inflammation whilst freshening your breath due to compounds like cinnamaldehyde, which possess antimicrobial properties which have been known to combat harmful bacteria in the mouth that contribute to tooth decay, gum disease, and bad breath.

It is also known to have anti-inflammatory effects. Inflammation in the gums can lead to gum disease, so using cinnamon tooth powder may help reduce gum inflammation and promote healthier gums.

If you like cinnamon you’ll agree that it has a pleasant scent and flavour, but did you know it can actually help to freshen your breath. Saliva plays a crucial role in maintaining oral health as it helps neutralise acids, remineralise teeth, and wash away food particles. Cinnamon stimulates saliva production, thus aiding in the natural cleansing, freshening of breath and protection of your teeth.

The texture of cinnamon powder can also act as a mild abrasive when used for brushing. This can assist in removing plaque and surface stains from teeth.

Cinnamon Tooth Powder

Mix 2 tablespoons of Green Goddess Premium Baking Soda with 1⁄2 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1⁄4 teaspoon of monk fruit sweetener (if you like it a little sweet).

Put in a jar with a lid and shake up.

To use, dampen your toothbrush with water then stick it in the jar to get a good coating. Clean your teeth thoroughly. Over time you will work out how much you like to use but usually a healthy covering of the brush will suffice.
