Some skincare products cost a fortune yet still fail to deliver results, while others are simple, natural, and remarkably effective. The humble combination of frankincense essential oil and castor oil falls into the second category.

For centuries, frankincense has been prized for its ability to rejuvenate and heal the skin, while castor oil has been known for its deep hydration and restorative powers.

Together, they create a skin treatment that is deeply nourishing, affordable, and easy to make at home.

Frankincense oil contains unique natural compounds that can encourage cell renewal, reduce redness, and help smooth the appearance of fine lines and scars. It has a gentle, calming aroma that adds to the overall feeling of self-care when applied.

Castor oil, on the other hand, is rich in ricinoleic acid, a fatty acid that penetrates deeply into the skin, locking in moisture, soothing irritation, and supporting the skin’s protective barrier. Because of its thickness, castor oil also works well as a carrier for frankincense, keeping it in place on targeted areas so it has more time to work.

This blend is especially good for mature skin, dry or flaky areas, uneven skin tone, and minor scars. It can also be used to help calm irritation and give an overall boost to skin health.

To make a 10ml roller bottle, add 8 to 10 drops of pure frankincense essential oil to the bottle. Fill the remainder with cold-pressed, hexane-free castor oil, leaving a little room at the top. Snap on the rollerball, shake gently to combine, and store in a cool, dark place.

How to Use

Apply the oil blend directly to areas of concern such as fine lines, dry patches, blemishes, or uneven spots. Gently massage in with clean fingertips to help absorption. The roller makes it easy to target specific areas without waste or mess.

Safety Note

Always use high-quality, pure essential oils and cold-pressed castor oil. Conduct a patch test before first use, especially if your skin is sensitive. Avoid applying essential oils too close to the eyes.
