Memo Write - Preserves Your Family Memories in Print
Posted on July 15 2026
Isn't Memo Write a lovely idea! We haven't started this process yet, but I'm really keen to do it with my Mum. What a precious gift it would be to have her memories recorded in her own words for our family to treasure for generations to come.
My Dad passed away many years ago, and I often wish we'd done something like this with him. He had so many incredible stories to tell - from leaving Ireland as a young man to become a ski instructor in Canada, then moving to Squaw Valley, California (now known as Palisades Tahoe), where he eventually ran the ski school. He later came to New Zealand for the ski season to run the ski school at Whakapapa, where he met Mum, and the rest, as they say, is history. Those memories are priceless, and while we still remember many of them, I wish we'd captured them in his own words.
Have you ever wished you'd asked your grandparents more questions? Or found yourself thinking, "I really should write down Mum or Dad's stories before they're forgotten."

As we get older, we begin to realise that it's often the little stories we treasure the most. The family traditions, funny childhood memories, favourite recipes, adventures and everyday moments that quietly shaped a person's life. Sadly, so many of these precious memories disappear simply because no one thought to ask.
I recently came across Memo Write, and I thought it was such a beautiful idea. It was inspired by a group of friends who realised how many family stories had already been lost to time, simply because they had never been written down.
Memo Write gently guides you through recording your memories with simple prompts, making it easy to tell your story, even if you don't consider yourself a writer. Your words and treasured photos are then transformed into a beautifully bound keepsake book that can be passed down through generations.
I think it's one of the most meaningful gifts you could give your family. After all, every life has a story worth telling.
