How To Remove Set-In Stains

How frustrating is it when something spills on the carpet or your couch and you don't get to it straight away. By the time you notice it, the stain has dried and you're left wondering what on earth you're going to do with it.

Cat vomit can be particularly bothersome to remove!

Fortunately our Natural San Oxygen Soaker can help. Natural San contains oxygen bleach and soda ash, and is great for tackling stubborn stains and marks.

For a set-in stain, I wouldn't reach for white vinegar at this stage. Vinegar can be useful for fresh stains when diluted with water, but once a stain has dried and set, you'll usually need something with a little more stain lifting power.

What you'll need

½ teaspoon Green Goddess Natural San

500 ml warm water

A clean white cloth

How to use it

Dissolve the Natural San completely in the warm water.

Before treating the stain, patch test first in a small, hidden area, particularly if your carpet or couch is light coloured. Let the test area dry completely and check that there has been no change in colour.

Once you're happy it's suitable, gently dab the solution onto the stain rather than soaking. Leave it for around 5–10 minutes, then blot with a clean white cloth.

Then go over the area with a cloth dampened with plain water and blot again to remove any residue. Allow to dry thoroughly.

If the stain is still visible once dry, you can repeat the process rather than making the solution stronger.

A little reminder

Always check and follow the manufacturer's care instructions where available. Don't mix Natural San with vinegar or other cleaning products for this application.
