During winter there’s nothing quite like soaking in the bath so this week we are sharing some of Wendyl’s favourite bath soak recipes. Choose from the indulgent Mulled Wine Soak, Cleopatra Milk Soak or Circulation Bath Soak for a special treat this weekend.
If you’ve got a cold, pop 10 drops each of lavender, tea-tree and peppermint essential oils in the bath to help your immune system.
Cleopatra Milk Bath Soak
The lactic acid in milk dissolves dead skin cells and the result is wonderfully smooth, silky skin. The honey moisturises your skin and acts as an anti-bacterial agent while the oats sooth the skin. And the lavender oil? It just relaxes you into a heavenly state.
3 cups blue milk powder (no place for skim milk here)
½ cup runny honey & ½ cup ground oats
10 drops lavender essential oil
Put in your hot bath, light a candle and soak away.
Mulled Wine Bath Soak
I love this recipe because you can save some and drink it while you soak in it! When I first told Paul this is what I intended to do he thought I was inviting him to drink the mulled wine once it had all been put in the bath. ‘Yuck, I’m not drinking your bath dirt!’ Needless to say we sorted it out and he loved drinking the wine while I bathed in it.
1 bottle strong, cheap red wine (a Merlot is good)
6 cloves
1 stick cinnamon
1 vanilla pod
2 star anise pods
peel of one orange
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 bay leaves (preferably fresh)
Put all the ingredients in a pot and bring to the boil. Turn the heat to low and let simmer with the lid on for 10 minutes. Be gentle. Take off the heat, add a cup to the bath and drink the rest!
Circulation Bath Soak
If you feel that you need to get your feet and hands warm, run a hot bath and throw in a cupful of Epsom salts with 10 drops of eucalyptus oil. You will also benefit from the magnesium in the Epsom salts being absorbed into your bloodstream
