Recently I wrote about the F.D.A. in the U.S. banning triclosan as an ingredient used in soaps. This week I found out that Colgate have managed to convince the F.D.A that the benefits of having triclosan in Colgate totally outweigh any potential risks. It seems strange to me that the F.D.A. would ban something from products used on our skin for being potentially dangerous, but ok them for use in products that we inevitably end up ingesting orally.
