This February on Sunday the 14th, Matakana, a lovely town just north of Auckland, will be hosting New Zealand’s first ever Festival dedicated to honey and bees!
The Big Buzz Festival is a FREE ENTRY family friendly, fun filled country fair with stalls of all things bees, food trucks and live entertainment, free talks and workshops, spot prizes and competitions, free children’s activities all day long and much more.
This is going to be a stimulating day out experiencing the wonderful world of our pollinators, the honey bees, and all things associated with them, from honey to cosmetics, from health to gardening, from conservation to environmental awareness.
This info is from Good, one of my favourite lifestyle magazines. For more info on this fantastic Kiwi mag click here.
“The Big Buzz Festival is the brain-child of Isabella Sullivan and Grass Esposti, two passionate female beekeepers living near Matakana. It began with their commitment to New Zealand Bees and Honey and their desire to spread the word about the importance of bees in our world and the huge variety of honey available. Sullivan and Esposti believe there is great opportunity for the community to become more engaged in the role of bees, the environment and sustainability.
The event is expected to attract over 2000 keen locals, Aucklanders and tourists alike, and the Matakana community is excited about the big buzz. For more information on the Festival visit thebigbuzz.nz.”
