STARCH
Why not starch your sheets this weekend?
I’m a bit of a white sheet fanatic and I love it when they’re starched and ironed. I must confess I did this for a while, but now I just throw them on the line and let the sun crisp them up and give them that gorgeous smell. But if you want to have hotel-standard sheets here are some great starch ideas:

  • Save the cooking water from rice, pasta or potatoes and add to the rinse cycle of your wash. I just throw the whole lot in and the sheets come out nice and crisp after a day in the sun.
  • Make starch by mixing 4 tsp cornflour to 1 cup water and add to the final rinse. If you have a large washing machine, mix up 2 cups.
  • You can starch and iron if you really don’t have anything better to do. Mix 2 tsp cornflour with 1 cup water and put in a spray bottle. Spray before you iron. I throw about 10 drops of lavender oil in as well for a great fragrance.
