bunting1Do you like my bunting? I went a bit mad last weekend and made 40 metres of the stuff because Paul has got a book launch on Monday for his second Grumpy Old Men book and I always think a bit of bunting gives an event a certain cheeriness. And I’m sure we’ll find plenty of uses for it in the future for parties etc.
It’s very easy to make with bias binding and I used material packaged and sold at Spotlight for quilting which I cut up using a pair of pinking shears. I hadn’t used a pair of them since I was a child.
I used to sew a lot when I was a teenager and made most of my own clothes to my own design or altered gorgeous old dresses I found in Op Shops. My mother refused to let me use her sewing machine probably because I’d done something naughty and so I walked down to our local shopping centre and used my pocket monty to buy a second hand Singer for $10. I think I was about 12 at the time and already showing a certain independent streak.
These days I don’t have a lot of time to sew but I always love it when I sit down and create something out of a simple piece of fabric.
