Kerry Sorensen-Tyrer, who is also a marriage celebrant, is the lady you need to call. Kerry is the founder of EcoWed, who provide Auckland’s newest mini wedding packages for the environmentally conscious couple, who are also keen to reduce their expenses too.
A few years ago Kerry started KeepnzClean, which is a voluntary page offering tips and ideas towards a more eco friendly lifestyle. Her other passion is her work as a celebrant and specifically weddings that don’t cost a fortune or create huge amounts of waste. Low key, intimate weddings have always appealed to Kerry, so much so, that 21 years ago Kerry and her husband were married in their back garden at their engagement party! (Surprise!!)
During the Covid 19 lockdown, Kerry was out of work like many around the country. During her enforced break she spent time thinking and getting her creative brain into gear, and thus Eco Wed was born!
Kerry has created a lovely website and is now on the way to helping Kiwis get married in a stress free celebration while still having an incredible experience.
Kerry still offers Celebrant Services for large weddings, however EcoWed is all about Mini wedding packages, also known as an elopement or registry style wedding. This will suit couples who might have been affected by the economic downturn, perhaps family can’t get here from overseas, or they just want to be married without all the fuss! What a great way to be able to focus on the number one person in your life and do what feels right for you.
Not everyone wants a large wedding, but it’s very easy to get caught up in the planning and trying to keep others happy – please remember that your wedding day should be what makes you happy.
With the EcoWed package, you get a Celebrant (Kerry), a photographer and a venue. There are currently 3 beautiful venues with stunning gardens around Auckland. You will get 2 hours at this location, some bubbles and fun with up to 10 of your friends and family, plus optional extras such as flowers and cake. Kerry is also looking into larger Eco friendly packages for 10-30 guests so watch this space!
