When using those incredibly toxic cleaning products from the supermarket that is, not when you use our cleaning products that are the safest on the planet, we don’t use any plant derived chemicals (some of our ‘green’ competitors do) and we most certainly don’t use ammonia and bleach!
This article from the Herald discusses research that states women in particular are more susceptible to lung damage from regular cleaning products, much more so than men who cleaned for the same period of time (yes really men do clean) there was no distinction between the toxicity of spray cleaners or liquid cleaners, both were equally as harmful – as bad as smoking 20 cigarettes a day!
The authors write: “Women cleaning at home or working as occupational cleaners had accelerated decline in lung function, suggesting that exposures related to cleaning activities may constitute a risk to long-term respiratory health.”
